Because the deceased left surviving children, the wife’s share is reduced from one-quarter to one-eighth.
How is the remainder split between the sons and daughter?
After the wife’s share, the remainder is divided as ʿaṣaba (residuary): each son receives twice the share of the daughter (the male takes the portion of two females).
